Water For Elephants

This trailer slays me. I had a bit of a love/hate relationship with this book, there were some...um...coarse bits, but in the end Jacob stole my heart. I hope the movie is as good as the trailer suggests it might be.

Finished!

The first project I picked to finish was an easy pick, it was down to just finishing. The problem is sometime I get to this phase and just over think it and worry about ruining the whole project in it's final stages. This project is a gift and a pattern I've actually made before. I love knitting hats, especially ones worked in the round on circular needles. The only somewhat tricky portion of this pattern, found in Itty-Bitty Hats, is that the petals are sewn on. (Which really isn't tricky at all, just that for some reason this step intimidates me)

It feels good to finish! (I used Cascade Yarn 'Sierra' for the main hat and yellow portion of flower, and Plymoth yarn 'Encore' for the green stem and flowers, all from my local knitting shop La Favorites)

"Much of the stress people feel doesn't come from having too much to do. It comes from not finishing what they start"

Someone sent this to me in an email, subject: motivation. It's one of those things that has really stuck with me. I LOVE crafts, shopping for them, planning them, starting them..... It gets a little sticky for me in the finishing category. So, to motivate myself I took the photo below to shame myself into action.

This photo is a small glimpse of a few projects I have brewing: a hat and a pair of fingerless gloves to finish  knitting, 3 quilts and then yarn ordered to start two hats, two pairs of fingerless gloves and two scarves. (These are just a few of the projects that are mobile, I know, I have a problem) But... the picture worked it's magic, one project down (post coming), too many to count to go!

Book Club Inspiration

Last night our book club got together to hash out The Windup Girl. In the midst of discussion, inspiration struck, we should blog about our book club, maybe someone other than our parents and friends will read it and we can 1. save ourselves from reading books such as The Windup Girl and 2. Maybe help another book club find inspiration in something we've done. We got right down to business, setting it up, when I realized that that will make two blogs for me...and I'm not even following through with posting on one! So I decided to get a jump on the rest of the world, who will begin to make resolutions in a couple weeks, and set myself a goal of actually posting regularly here. I'll try to make a few other, more pointless resolutions, because let's be honest, most resolutions don't get a lot of follow through. So maybe if I make a few, I'll follow through on this one. (Sometimes my logic astounds even me.)

Step one on more regular posting: I'm off to Photobucket to set up an account so I can dress up my blogs with some pictures. (I've heard this is the best way, yes???) Wish me well with that, I'm not the most computer literate.
